Do You Suffer from Facial Pain?

At Stephen Godfrey we specialise in identifying and treating the underlying causes of facial pain and providing relief from the misery it can bring.

Facial pain can take many forms. It can be spontaneous and excruciating – sometimes brought on by hot or cold drinks, or simply by going out on a cold day – or in other cases it may be a persistent dull ache.

In 95% of cases the cause is dental, and can be traced to dying nerve tissue – known as ‘pulp’ – inside a tooth. Diagnosis can be complex, as many people suffer from ‘referred pain’ in an area of the face some distance from the offending tooth, so it is important to consult an expert who will take time to diagnose your symptoms as carefully as possible.

Stephen Godfrey has a national reputation in the diagnosis and treatment of facial pain. His special interest in the subject began during his final year at dental school and was developed while undertaking a Masters degree at the highly regarded Eastman Dental Institute at University College London.

The Stephen Godfrey team understands that patients are often very anxious that dental treatment will be painful, but in the vast majority of cases this will not be the case.

We listen carefully to patients’ symptoms and clearly explain exactly what treatment will involve, using computer programmes to help demonstrate. We deliver the highest quality treatment using the latest well-researched techniques and technology, so patients can enjoy complete peace-of-mind knowing they are receiving some of the very best dental care available.
